What companies do Royal Caribbean International own?

Royal Caribbean Cruises vs Carnival Cruises - which should I choose?

  • Both companies offer similar cruises around the Caribbean. Has anyone had any experience with these companies (good or bad)? Which is more suited to 30 year olds (who have no kids)?

  • Answer:

I would definately say Royal Caribbean is going to be your best option. The quality of the cruise is a lot better. It is usually cleaner and the service is great. Carnival is a budget ship and it can show. You are going to see a lot of partying on board Carnival as well, and it can be unpleasant at times. Royal Caribbean still offers a really fun cruise, but it is not non-stop partying. As the other person said, Royal Caribbean is really great. For the small price difference between the two, you really are getting a much better cruise. Carnival is mostly for budget families with kids and college aged kids wanting to party. If you can afford to upgrade to Royal Caribbean I think you will be much happier. In my experience, I've never got off a Royal Caribbean cruise and been dissapointed, but I have been dissapointed with Carnival on more than one occassion. I would check out: http://cruisecritic.com/ to see reviews of both ships to see which you think will suit you better. If it was me I would go with Royal Caribbean without question. Hope this helps!

Try Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess or Norwegian; just stay away from Disney and Carnival

I don't really have a true comparison answer for you because I haven't experienced Carnival first hand. I can give you some horror stories that my friends have shared with me about Carnival such as, lost luggage, boarding and debarking issues, food sickness, etc. Don't get me wrong, I am not slamming Carnival because I just haven't experienced their cruise for myself. But knowing that much, I would be careful. Most of my friends think of Carnival as the "party boat" as their advertising campaign suggests. I believe that this could be true in the sense that at any given time you could find 18-25 year olds on board according to others. I have also heard that depending on the season that you can find kids on board. On the other hand, if you are looking for a truly relaxing but adventurous cruise on a ship with lots of attention to detail, then choose Royal Caribbean. I feel as if RCL has gone above and beyond to cater to all of it's passengers. RCL seems to cater to people who aren't just about partying nonstop. People who are in "our" age group are present and are usually business professionals that know how to have a good time without drinking until they puke. The level of service that RCL offers can be said about a lot of cruise ship lines, but RCL's newest Voyager class ships take the cake! Also, RCL has many private islands in the Caribbean that offer "the getaway" feeling that we all look for on occasion. Don't take my word for it, go to RCL's website and take a look at the deckplans and cruises once more. Happy booking!

I don't know what royal caribbean is like because i haven't been on a royal caribbean cruise, but i do not recommend carnival. i went on a carnival cruise that took place the week of thanksgiving. It's definitely more of a party boat. parties and jamming on the top deck all the time and the shows are a bit trashy. But i guess it all depends on what you're looking for.
