How do you celebrate day of the dead in Puerto Rico?

3 day in Puerto Rico - plan - help please?

  • I plan to spend 3 days in Puerto Rico (possibly from 17th to 19th or 20th). I want to spend as less money as possible and spend more time on seeing Puerto Rico and trying local food. My plan so far is to go to San Juan, spend first day there, explore the city. On second day I plan to visit El Yunque very early in morning. And in afternoon (I guess, not so soon yet) go to Luquillo and beaches near by. Do you think I should also visit Fajardo (which is a bit south from Luquillo)? Do you think I should stop somewhere else on my way from El Yunque to Luquillo? Maybe some other unique small towns of interest. I guess in afternoon, I can go back to San Juan, see nightlife. (I also thinking to rent a car, you think it would be a better option or not?) About third day. If I will be leaving on 19th, I would just stay in San Juan. But if we will leave on 20th (maybe morning). What do you think I should do on 19th or where should I go? Can anyone please give me some other ideas? What else can I see? Do you think Luquillo and possibly Fajardo would be nice places to see after El Yunque? Or maybe I can visit something else after walk in El Yunque? Where can I buy cheap tickets to Puerto Rico? My Spanish is not good. Do you think I would easily able to rent a car or hotel room… etc.

  • Answer:

Travel in PR is very easy, a lot of the signs are in both Spanish/English, the roads are modern/paved. El Yunque is nice but a lot of walking so factor in that you'll be tired.... As you drive (and you chose excellent places) you will pass many local food places and towns. Try to be adventurous and stop at the kiosks along the roads.. there you can buy foods, drinks, fruits, talk to the locals and get the fulle experience.. You really don't have to "search" for things to see and do.. they will all be along the way. You don't need a tour guide but yes you will need a car.

Take a ferry to the small island known as Culebra. If you want you can take the 15 minute plane ride which is more expensive but faster (thats the way I take). Also, if you have the time try to visit the bio-luminescent bay, when you move your arm in water the water lights up (youtube it) You can also visit my great grandma in Yauco (90 years old).
