UPR how much is tuition for out of state students?

  • i read on the college board website that they charge US citizens who are not permanent residents of puerto rico an amount that is equal to what they would charge a non resident at a state school in their state of residence..osea since ohio state tuition is like 20,000 for out of state students that is how much I would have to pay to go to UPR RP? i reallyyy hope that's not true!

Tuition for permanent residents or "out of state" is not like conventional US Public Universities. The difference is insignificant if any. The inflation cost of tuition for the next year is over 40% if the Board of trustees go forth with the new $800 increase due to the State cutting the funding destined to the university to cover its costs and bad administration.

I studied at the UPR in Mayaguez and tuition is cheap for residents. I think for out of state student pay a little bit more for credit, but I think it's less than $100 per credit. Btw, the UPR is going through a budget crisis and could lose its accreditation.
