What is the cheapest car rental place in San Juan, PR?

  • I'm trying to figure out if there are cheap local places (cheaper than chains like Avis or Hertz). Looking for an economy or compact size car for a week and am willing to take a cab within 20 minutes of SJU (airport) to get to the rental location.

    All the rentals have vans that will pick you up at the airport and take you to the office. Try Payless rental is 108.00 per week, plus tax & ins.(get it) I used them last summer . Mitssubishi lancer.

To find the cheapest you need to search way before your trip. The last time I went to PR i went to Travelocity.com to see what the prices where. I booked the morning I was leaving and found a no name rental car company that was charging $10 a day (I think the name was Payless or Advantage). Turned out to be the best car rental company I have ever dealt with and whenever I see the name I will always go back to them. The car i was supposed to rent had engine problems. They made me a reservation at another local rental spot, and told me they would reimburse me the difference in price. I had a brand new car that cost over $200 more than what my reservation was for, and true to their word they reimbursed me. Always make more than one reservation, in case you find something cheaper elsewhere.
