What will happen if you lose your passport?

When I visit...what happens if I lose my passport etc?

• Ok.I'm in the Jamaica forum because..it's actually a trip to JA. Just a preference. But my question is..what happens if I (an american citizen) come to JA and while there I lose my passport? Will they let me return home? What if my husband(a jamaican national, permanent US resident) loses his green card/passport? What will happen to him?
