What will the weather be like in Punta Cana in the beginning of April?

What is the weather like in Punta Cana, D.R. in late April?

  • My boyfriend and I are heading out next week and we're a bit concerned about the weather. The weather reports are saying "chance of showers" for the whole week, but I'm not sure if that's to be translated as "It will rain all day" or "there will be a few cloud bursts and mostly sunshine" or something else entirely. Anybody have any experience?

    We were there at the end of April 2009. The weather was perfect, mid eighties to low 90s in the day, nights in the seventies, but there's a nice breeze to keep you from getting too hot. It rained 2 or 3 of the days we were there for about 15 minutes around 3:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. Not heavy. After the first one we just ignored it. They have a fresh water problem there, most of the year it doesn't rain much and fresh water is apparently a little scarce. Since I don't even remember if it rained 2 days or 3 days it obviously wasn't a problem. Have a great time, don't do the Saona Island tour but the truck trip wasn't bad. We were in an all inclusive (NH Real), the buffet food was good but the al la carte restaurants were terrible. This is apparently common. We're going back for a week starting 4/23/2010, this Friday. Get up early and go down to the beach and put towels on chairs or there won't be any when you wander down at 10:00. Enjoy, we did and expect to again.

Hola I recently returned from a week's stay in Punta Cana. I was there from April 11th until April 17th. The weather that week was a bit unsettled. It was cloudy/overcast on a few days, with some scattered rain showers that lasted maybe an hour or two at most, then the sun would come out, and a few hours later it would rain for another hour. The rain was fairly light, didn't last long, and cooled things down nicely. When the sun came out, and on the days when it didn't rain, it got PLENTY HOT!!!! Temperatures in the mid 80's, and sometimes a bit humid. Weather on the beach itself (I stayed at Dreams Palm Beach) was pretty nice. The ocean breezes were very relaxing. But away from the beach, sometimes it was "Ugh!!!" like stepping into a steam room, as in hot and a bit sticky.
