How much do things cost in the Dominican Republic?

Traveling to the Dominican republic ANY HELP APPRECIATED?

  • I'm traveling to the dominican republic and I need help with a bunch of things 1. what is the BEST spanish english dictionary available? I speak spanish sort of but my family knows nothing beyond hola and adios, and we're all going to need help, specifically with vocab. the grammar is pretty straightforward so I don't need that much detail on it. maybe there is one more geared towards Dominican slang and terms 2. I need fun **** to do. obviously I'll be sailing, surfing, and the like, but is there any stuff to do that I wouldn't know about? 3. What are the best restaurants, clubs, and bars? Both my sister and I are of drinking age in the Dominican so good bars are important. 4. Any information about Dominican women? I know how to pick up women, but any helpful tips about what to look out for or random facts about them would be nice to know. 5. How do I get drugs there? I'll pretty much only be looking for weed, but I need to know the right way to ask/ not get caught. also, how much does it cost, I've heard it cheap. 6. How safe is it? I'm sure we won't want to stick together as a family the entire time, and any tips about keeping stuff safe/ what not to do would be greatly welcomed. 7. any random customs? I read somewhere that you aren't supposed to shower after you eat or open the fridge when you're sweating. I feel like that's not true, but any light shed on that subject would probably help a lot ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.. SERIOUSLY ANYTHING YOU KNOW much love

Your American. I am Dominican American. Here are some tips: Not sure what area of the island you will be visiting but here are some general tips: The island's official language is Spanish. Some guides speak English and other foreign languages. Do not venture out on your own unless you are familiar with the area and you know how to get back. Dominican women are nice. That is, the ones that stay home and go to school. The ones you see that are hanging out with friends and look clean and decent. It's the ones that look like "rats" that you have to be careful of. You will be able to tell by using judgement and common sense. If it doesn't feel right, DON'T DO IT. Don't go looking for weed. It's your call but if you get caught, (you will get arrested and detained). If you are staying at a resort, the staff are usually very nice and hospitable. Extremely friendly. Dominican slang in the Dominican Republic is not like Dominican slang in the US. They tend to be a bit more toned down and educated and are more respectful of foreigners. Buenos Dias in the morning is very common if you walk past a hotel worker or another visitor. The eating and showering after you eat. Yes... that's true... I grew up with that. Take a shower at least half hour AFTER eating. Your food should be in it's designated spot in the body. The sweat and fridge door opening, you can catch a cold is basically what it boils down to. The coolness coming from the fridge and the warmth of your sweat is not a good combo. Visit this site before you go: http://www.godominicanrepublic.com/
