What are the odds we will run into trouble sleeping 1 extra person in a all-inclusive hotel room?
-
Basically I want to go on spring break with my friends, but the hotel is all booked up (they already have a room). My idea is to buy day and night passes for the week and just sleep on the floor of their room. I already asked if I could just pay an "extra-person" fee per night, but the hotel says that that is not an option. Would it be difficult to just buy the passes then sneak into the room every night, basically what I'm asking is there security at most all-inclusives at every room, or just at the entrances to the resort. I read that in a cancun all-inclusive day/night passers were specifically not allowed into the sleeping quarters, and I wondered if this was a common thing. I know generally that it is not difficult to sneak an extra person or two into a hotel room, but because I am talking about an all-inclusive I imagine that this might be different, even if I am already on hotel grounds with the day-night pass. I also read somewhere else that they may have a list at reception, is this a common thing as well? This would obviously make things more difficult. Also, has anyone heard of all-inclusives limiting the number of day-night passes that they distribute? I am going during the spring break peak periods, and I do not want to get all the way over there only to find that I can't even get into the hotel at all. The place where we are staying is IFA Villas Bavaro, in Punta Cana. One last question, if nothing works out and I have to find somewhere to sleep not in the hotel, is it allowed to sleep on the beach/ are there any other options (airport, ect...) that you think might work. Also, please don't just talk about the ethical implications. A. I would gladly pay for a room if there were one available. B. I asked about the extra-person fee and was denied. and C. It is not like I would be sneaking into the hotel, I know I need to pay for the day-night pass to get entrance and all the free stuff, I just want a place to sleep. Thanks so much for your time!

Answer:
When you called the hotel and asked to pay the extra persons fee, did you give them the reservation number? I would try calling with the reservation number and ask them if you can add an additional person to the room. They may have said no to the "extra persons fee" because they didn't understand what you were asking. I am a travel agent and I deal with resorts in the Dominican Republic all the time, and they are the worst when it comes to communication. It seems no matter the resort, they don't fully understand what I request for my clients. So there may be a miscommunication between you and whoever you spoke to at the resort. You said they are staying in the IFA Villas Bavaro, and you said those rooms are booked, but what about at the IFA Bavaro Village or IFA Bavaro Ocean? If you have a room in that section you can still be with your friends because it is the same resort (same restaurants, same beach, same everything). You would just be sleeping in a different section of the resort. Try calling with your friend's room reservation number. Tell them that you have another guest traveling in your group and you want them to be added to your room with a rollaway bed if the other beds are full (don't mention fees or anything). If this is not an option then explain to them "what can I do to accommodate my extra guest at your resort? Because I'd hate to have to cancel my reservation at your resort and stay somewhere else so that we could all stay together." If they say they don't have space still, then ask "well, if my guest stays at another resort near by, how much would it cost her to visit your property every day so she can be with us?". Maybe once they hear you may have to stay elsewhere they will work to accommodate you better. Or at least offer you a better option. If that doesn't work then consider if this resort fully refundable. Maybe if you and your friends are able to find another resort to fit you all then that would be a better option. If they can get their money back on this resort, in full, then see if you can find another resort to accommodate you all. If none of those I mentioned are an option then you may just have to cut your losses and not go this time.
