What are some good hotels for young people in Puerto Plata (not All Incusive resorts)?

  • Heading to the Dominican Republic in January and wondering about some good hotels in Puerto Plata. I've been to Santo Domingo, Sosua and Cabarete but never P.P. Looking for a hotel (NOT all inclusive resort). Will be traveling with 2 other guys (all in late 20's). Looking for something central to the nightlife scene and hopefully near the beach. What are the fun areas? Also want the place to have a pool and be guest-friendly as well as clean. Looking for something in the $30-$60 (U.S.dollars) range. Any other advice about P.P. is appreciated as well. Will mostly be looking to party, go to the beach and meet women. Thank you for your help.

    You would be better staying in Sosúa or Cabarete, great night life for young male singles and lots of small guest-friendly hotels. you might find our Yahoo Sosúa group of help it's non-commercial and has links and information to dozens of hotels and other businesses which would suit you and your friends. Hi ¨t¨, Well, there are few hotels in Puerto Plata, but you need to book them for that period (January 2012) on time because this high season in the Dominican Republic. The hotel I´m thinking about has only rooms, no restaurant/bar and is located in center of town and price is acceptable, and they have a room for 3 persons. All the rooms have A.C., Fan, T.V (cable). I think this is what you are looking for. The beach is not far away and you are at 10 minutes from a supermarket (La Sirena).
