Where is the best place to stay in the Dominican Republic for Adventure and Beautiful Beaches?
-
I am looking for a place and area to stay in the Dominican Republic on my honeymoon. I have done a little research but coming up stumped with an area to stay. I am looking for a place where I can do some things like hike through waterfalls, maybe some cliff jumping and zip lines. I think most of this stuff is north near the mountains. I also want a beautiful beach like I see in Punta Cana. So I have a dilemma; I want both. Is there an area somewhere in the DR that has both beautiful beaches and the adventure I am looking for. The hotel means a lot too. I would like something that is B&B or all-inclusive. A nice suite would be great or a private little bungalow would be great. Any help or direction would be great. Thanks

I would look into staying in Las Terrenas. Their are plenty of adventures right next to this little town. The nightlife is great here and you will be right on the beach along with being around quite a few people who speak English. There is a cool waterfall a few miles down the road along with Samana. In Samana you can go to Bacardie Island or go explore Los haitises, Indian Taino Caves, The devils mouth, Zip Lining adventures etc. Go west and your in Puerta Plata in two hours.

Hi !, To have a lot to do and to discover you need to look for Puerto Plata, this is 10x better than Punta Cana/Bavaro where are only a hotel strip called the ¨Golden Jail Strip¨ so be carefully and look for example for Lifestyle Resorts ( Cofresi) or Iberostar ( Costa Dorada) or Be Alive ( Cofresi) they all have special plans for honeymooners. If in need for more info just contact [email protected] they will gladly help you.

In my opinion, Las Terrenas would be exactly what you are looking for. LT is known across the Carribean for its untouched-by-man beaches. It is in the northeast on the samana peninsula which is famous for its lush grean mountains for ziplines. It also has a great national park just a few miles south of the town with amazing tours with caves and jungles. Their is also the beautiful El Limon waterfall not to far away from the town which is a breathtaking trip on horseback through the jungle and to the waterfall which they allow you to swim in. And not to mention Las Terrenas's fond reputation for an exciting little town with ex. european pats who inhabit the town.

You might want to investigate PUERTO PLATA and it's environs as a possibility.. AND.. I posted my anwer BEFORE I saw the one above here, so consider this a confirmation. I lived in both Santo Domingo and in Puerto Plata and Puerto Plata is everything SD is not.
