How do i prepare for holiday?

How do I prepare my skin a month before I go on holiday to Cuba?

  • I live in London and have never been abroad before so as you can imagine I am rather white (and I have blonde hair so burn easy). So i need to know how to prepare my skin..... Any suggestions would be a great help :-) Thanks Stacey

You can't really "prepare" your skin for sun. What you can do is buy good suntanning lotion with a high SPF factor. Take two bottles to make sure you have enough. Given that you're very white, don't go with anything less than 60. Make sure to adequately cover yourself and take a good hat & sun glasses.

I am a construction worker from Canada. When the weather warms up my shirt comes off and I get a sunburn for the first couple of weeks. Once I build up a tan, my skin doesn't burn anymore so I stop wearing sunscreen. My sister hates me for this because she's a medical student and this type of behaviour causes skin cancer. The moral of the story? If you visit a tanning salon in London a couple of times before you head to Cuba it will give you a base tan which will hopefully prevent you from burning up within 15 minutes of hitting the beach. It will also ensure that you don't look really pale when you arrive. That being said, tanning is dangerous whether it is done in the sun or in a tanning bed. So the best thing you can do for your delicate skin from a health standpoint is to get some very good sunscreen (SPF 45+) and wear it while you're in Cuba. Get a friend to rub it on you regularly, or buy the spray-on stuff. (though it doesn't work as well) If you don't have a friend/significant-other to help you apply your sunscreen, I am sure that the "Animacion" people who work at the resort would be happy to give you a hand. Their job is to make sure that you're having fun and enjoying your vacation. They are also rather good-looking. Enjoy your vacation.

Well, for one you can choose what products you are going to use on your face there and start using them now. That way, if your skin reacts to one of them you'll get the reaction now instead of on your holiday. For example, sunscreen. Start everday with a little bit on your face and body. Not only will your face get less oily because of it when you are on vacation but you'll also notice if it doesn't suit you and if that's the case you'll have enough time to switch to another product. As far as makeup goes, if you wear it then make sure to take only "light" makeup products like slightly tinted moisturizer because I probably want to be able to tan and don't want to bother wearing too much. P.S. Since you are pale you can always buy some of those tan enhancing pills that make you tan more easily. Have fun!
