Getting married in Cuba, is it good idea to buy gold wedding rings in Cuba?

  • though it would be a nice idea to buy our wedding rings in cuba before we get married,we are not particular or choosy about what the actual rings look like- (would be happy with plain gold ring )but would like to have something that we can keep forever that came from cuba. Don't know if gold jewellery is something that is easily available in cuba or is this a bad idea and we would be better just to get them before we go.

    Some of the hotels have jewellery shops and sell some really lovely stuff, gold is much cheaper in Cuba, I bought a lovely ring while I was there at Easter for £25, its good quality too, I think its a lovely idea to buy your rings in Cuba, your wedding day there is going to be beautiful with those beaches and ocean views in your pictures and having Cuban rings as a symbol and memento of your love for each other would be very special, have a wonderful wedding day and a fantastic time in Cuba, it really is an amazing place.

First of all, Pepita has a big misconception...Cuba is extremely safe for tourists. Anyway, it's better if you bring everything that you need for your wedding instead of buying there. Especially if you are getting married at a resort. It is highly unlikely that you can get a wedding ring from there (unless you wish to buy silver rings from the vendors. Usually gold won't be found through the vendors). But they're not wedding rings. Just bring them with you from home. Have a beautiful wedding! *edit: cubalishus, which resort did you find gold bands? Maybe I missed seeing it? It's true you can buy gold in Cuba, but didn't realize you'd find gold wedding rings at the resorts. I've been to a few excellent resorts and didn't notice it.

No Pepita - you are wrong - Cuba is one of the safest places for tourists in the Carribean and in latin america. Have you been to Cuba?? I don't think you have - the tourist resorts are very exclusive and extremely safe - it is very hard for normal Cubans to get a job in them. Given that tourism is a huge part of their economy - they are very protective over it. But to the person who asked the question - it's better to buy your rings before you go - if you want something to remember your time there - why don't you buy a souvenir - e.g. a necklace etc. Something you can treasure.
