Does a UK Natwest Visa Debit Card work in Cuba?

  • Hi I am going to travel to cuba next week, Just would to to make sure that if my Natwest Visa Debit card will work in Cuba. That is the only card I have. Please help

    It ought to work. But even if Natwest say that it will, there is a chance that it won't. If you are going to be staying in a resort, you won't need an enormous amount - why not bring cash ? There are ATM machines in Cuba - but you are probably better off getting cash over the counter at a bank or Cadeca - they accept Visa and Mastercard. (The ATMs only accept Visa cards.)

Debit cards work in Cuba at times...not always. It all depends on the communications system of the day. Take cash or travellers' cheques...or us a non-US based credit card for cash advances, etc.

I read somewhere that there are no ATM machines in Cuba. That being the case it's questionable whether a debit card would work. Most places will accept credit cards as long as they're not issued from a US based bank.

If it has Visa or Mastercard on it it probably will. Why not ring Natwest and ask them ?
