How do I go to Cuba from the US?

Can a US Citizen go to Cuba and have a baby?

  • My husband and I are going to be cruisers on a sailboat when we have a baby. We would like our child to go to school for a year or two in Cuba. If we had our baby in Cuba, would they have dual citizenship (Cuban and American)? We are US Citizens and would travel there legally.

  • Answer:

First , this is a legal matter seek advice of an attorney or lawyer. Having said this, you are heading for a lot of problems and stress. 1) US citizens can not legally travel to Cuba , they need a licence from the US Treasure dept. see www.treas.gov 2) Foreigners entering Cuba only get a visa for 30 days , with a possible extention to 60 days. than you have to leave the country. A permanent residence is only possible if you are married to a Cuban partner. Education in Cuba is free for Cubans , it's possible that they will charge you,( don't know) I don't think Cuba accept dual citzenship, but I am not sure this is a complicated legal matter check this with a lawyer. As US citizens you can't travel to Cuba "legally". By going to Cuba you can face severe fines or jail by the US government. We have an embargo against that island
