Where can I buy a step up/down converter?

Step up or down converter when in Barbados from UK?

  • Plase can you let me know how I use my hair straighteners whilst in Barbados? I live in the UK and so apart from having a US plug adaptor, do I need a step up/down converter as well? If so where do I buy them?

  • Answer:

I called the Barbados Light and Power and they said that you will need a transformer unless the house has in 220 current which will be able to accommodate your plugs. Other than that you will need to cut off your plug and put one one from here. The transformer can be bought any where including any hardware like Carters General Stores. They are located on High St in Bridgetown, Barbarees Hill or Wildey next to BNB bank. You can also try Mannings as Star Princess said.
