Help with Carnival Imagination Cruise?

Carnival Imagination Stateroom selection help?

  • I am a first time cruiser and trying to book my first ever ticket..I am planning a trip on Carnival Imigination Ship for a 3 day cruise to Bahamas from Miami. I searched several websites and found the same rate everywhere, so I decided to book directly with Carnival Cruise..Although I am confused about the location of the cabin etc. Suddenly a friend of mine showed me a website for cruiseonly where I can pick the Stateroom. With Carnival I was going to go with a inside stateroom gurantee which is the cheapest option (it shows that it Includes stateroom categories 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D and 4E). Now this website is giving me option to pick up the deck and the room for the same price I am getting with carnival. My question is am I better off booking with carnival directly or through this 3rd party website?? What are the pros/cons of this?? The selection I am getting with this website is as follows : DECK Stateroom (Cat. 1A) UPPER U173 U171 RIVIERA R62 R56 R54 R52 If i should go with booking with this website, which room and deck is a good option to buy?? Help from experienced cruisers is appreciated !! Thanks in advance,

i've booked through cruises only and other websites and never had a problem. if you want to pick your own you can go to carnival's website and pick the cabin on the deck you want and ask if it's available. if it's not, ask for one as close to it as possible. i recommend mid ship so you're not too far away from one thing or another. don't get all the way to the back or all the way to the front. you fell every movement and hear all kinds of sound like the anchors at 6am if you're all the way to the front. i also don't recommend booking on a guarantee. i did that once and when we got to the terminal, we had not been assigned a cabin. we had to wait until they got the no-show list(which is 30 minutes before sailing) to see what cabin they could give us. we got a really nice oceanview on empress deck for the price of an inside cabin on riviera deck, but it was iffy there for a while.

It's better if you take the booking directly with the carnival. Its risky if you book it from a website. I suggest you take the deck.=)

I have not been on Carnival, but the best location on any ship is a middle deck, not too high or low, and mid ship. I have been at supposedly bad locations, and never had a problem.

Well, there a lot of things to consider. If you think you might be prone to seasickness, you'll want to be as low as possible and as near the center of the ship [fore to aft] as possible. If you're a light sleeper, you don't want any public areas below or, especially, above you, so you'd want to check on the deck plan to see what is there. You may want to be closer to a particular area that you would use a lot, so as to minimize walking to and from [although you're going to want to get some exercise because of all the food!!]. You may want an inside or an outside. Price may be a consideration. Be aware that with a "guarantee" you won't know your cabin location ahead of time, possibly until you show up to board. You may get a cabin in the "worst" location or you may get one in the "best" location. Since you don't really know that much about cabin location or cruising in general, I wouldn't recommend that you book with an on-line company, although using the Carnival vacation planners would be fine. Better to go to a travel agent in your area who can ask lots of questions and vice versa.
