How much will the foreign calls cost?

How much will it cost me to text or make calls when i travel to aruba?

  • I'm going to aruba for a week in the near future. I live in the united states now and have a verizon cell phone with unlimited minutes and texts. I want to know how much it'll cost me If i make or receive a phone call while in aruba, out of country, or if I send or receive a text message how much more it'll cost me. someone please help!

It won't cost you anything because you probably won't have service there. My husband has Verizon and when we went to Aruba last year he didn't have a signal. If you want to use your phone while you're there you'll need to call Verizon and ask to put international dialing (or whatever they call it) on your plan. My mother in law did that last year when she went out of the country. I'm not sure how much that would cost, though. Your other option would be to rent a phone while you're there. I think there are places in/around the airport to do that.

It would be very expensive if you can even get service there. I never used my phone while I was there because when I arrived I received a text message from Verizon saying that there would be a substantial charge just for connecting, then higher than average long distance and roaming charges per minute. A 10 minute call might set you back more than your usual entire monthly bill.
