What would be better, the IB program or a magnet?

Any Highschools in Ontario, Canada with IB program and not Pre-IB program?

  • I know Ontario is big, but I'm kinda desperate. I tried emailing a high school saying I would like to attend their school and do the IB program in 11th grade. They said there was no way I could do that because they don't allow any student who didn't participate in the Pre-IB program to attend the IB program in their school. So in other words, I was shunned. So I would like to know any school, preferable in Toronto, that will allow my to attend 11th grade IB program without doing the Pre-IB program (9&10th grade)

    Colonel By High School in Ottawa has an IB program. It is a public school. There is an International school there as well; I forget the name, but it is on Riverside Drive. I believe the instruction is in French. It caters mostly to children of diplomats, and I don't think it is part of the Ontario school system at all, but is a private school.

I think all the public schools have requirements for their IB programs. You can apply and if you meet/exceed their requirements AND they have a place, you could be admitted. However, there are waiting lists. You aren't being "shunned" necessarily -- perhaps just don't meet their requirements.

You also have live in the area that the school serves.You can't just apply to any school you want.

I know Baeteman High School in Burlington (right outside Hamilton) has an IB program..however i don't know about the pre-IB
