Online stores with free shipping to Canada?

Departmental stores in Canada?

  • Hi there everyone, I need a little help with sending a gift( fragrances) to a friend of mine in Canada. See I could buy something here and mail it to Canada but It would have to go through customs. So I am looking for a departmental store like Macy's, JCPenny's etc in Canada so I could buy it and pay for it online and it would be a domestic shipping. So what Departmental stores do you folks know in Canada? THANKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

  • Answer:

Gifts go through customs duty free if they are under $60 CAD in value. You fill out a form that goes on the package with the value declared and filled out by you. Check with your post office. Otherwise, we have The Bay, Sears, Wal-mart if you want to call that a department store, Zellers. Other places that retail fragrance are big drugstores like Shopper's Drug Mart which are countrywide but don't appear to have online shopping, and London Drugs in BC and Alberta which does have online shopping. I've never seen a Macy's or JC Penney in Canada. Have you checked whether you can buy the fragrance online from some online only store that ships within Canada? I don't think your chances are very good but it's worth a try.

The Bay is arguably the best- I don't know about pricing compared to the US (I never go there) but compared to Europe it's perfectly fine. Zellers is a cheaper version of The Bay and we also have Sears here, which I believe is an American chain. London Drugs is quite a competitor too- their fragrance selection really varies by store but depending on what you are looking for, you might be able to find it there at a good price. Our major luxury chain store is Holt Renfrew, and they'll have any designer fragrance you want. Alternatively, you can just find an online store which offers free shipping throughout North America, or that is based out of Canada.

Last year, I went to The Bay in Vancouver to buy a French Eau de Toilette and the price was more than double the price in the USA. So take care if you follow the method that you suggest. Perhaps a box of Rogers chocolates from Victoria would be a much better value.

I haven't seen a Macy's or JC Penny in Canada but I could be wrong. Some chains of stores we have are Wal-mart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Zellers, Sears, The bay.. I can't really think of anything else.
