Great places to Kayak?

What are some cool places (parks, beaches, places to kayak) in northern Ontario?

  • I am looking to do some camping, kayaking, hiking, and swimming in the area around Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Any recommendations? Kid friendly place preferred.

    Ontario is landlocked, unfortunately, so you won't find any real beaches! I'd recommend typing the area in Google maps then using the "search near here" function for the activities you want. Alternatively, call Parks Canada 888-773-8888 because they offer the best amenities for camping. Other companies offer camps, but security and services are dodgy, they are sometimes unsupervised, and can be hazardous. The Parks Canada website also has excellent links to the tourist guides for the region to which you wish to travel. Hope this is a start, and that you get to enjoy our wonderful country with your kids!

It's pretty hard to kayak on the beach =) Ontario - and northern Ontario in particular - has so many lakes (I believe there are more than a thousand) that it would impossible to list them all. Just be sure that, wherever you go, you notify someone of your destination.
