How does sending money from another country work? from Canada to Philippines?

• i think the exchange rate is 45 pesos for 1 canadian dollar.. let's say i would ask my mom for 20 dollars then she sent me 20 dollars, how's that work? will the bank chnage right away by multiplying 20 dollars times 45 pesos? that's about 4k pesos Is 25 dollars that big amount already? and also when I look at it 4k pesos is really big here and i think i don't want to beg money, but what about that she's in Canada where you can earn small amount of money then you can send it here and it becomes a big amount of money? btw, i really want to use the money for my voice lesson here(i think that it's cheaper here), but i think my mom's giving too much? because look 4k pesos is like the salary of my mom before here every monthi mean, we've been really poor before(not to the point we're starving), she's been there for 5 years already. I'm taking voice lessons now for 12 sessions, but i want to extend. I will take music theory class this monday which is 500 pesos or 10 dollars. I'm planning to take guitar lesson for 4k too, but my own money(my savings). Should I just mail my mom to send me that money? this is the last i promise. The most expensive i think that my mom gave me was 60k or 1k dollars was for my laser eye surgery last year. I promise to her also that when I get there in Canada, I will find a job while I'm studying(weekend jobs).
