What are some famous politicians in Ontario, CA?

What should I do if Ontario doesn't introduce a special ID card for people who do not drive?

  • I live in the province of Ontario and I was wondering when will the Ontario government be introducing a special alternative ID card for people who do not drive? I know that many people who wanted to get a constant form of ID is getting their G1 - but only if they wanted to drive. I myself, refuse to drive because of my disability (I have Asperger's Syndrome and I tend to do a misjudgment). The only forms of ID in Ontario that I have are my passport, my BYID Card (it's issued by the LCBO or Liquor Control Board of Ontario and replaces the age of majority card) and my Ontario health card (the ones that are green and have a photo on it). Health cards are not accepted as a form of ID as per governmental laws in Ontario. There is one exception - if you fly a plane within Canada, then it's okay. A number of provinces such as Newfoundland/Labrador, Alberta, Manitoba and B.C. have already got similar programs in place and we are still waiting for Ontario to do so. My question is, what should I do if the government of Ontario DOES NOT go forward with the photo ID card for people who had chosen not to drive? One other thing, novelty ID cards ARE NOT my type. Do you have any other suggestions? Here is some reference for you folks to check out: http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/enhancedcards.shtml#photocard

  • Answer:

This is an interesting question to me, as I don't drive either, and have occasionally had to use a passport for identification purposes. The Photo Card Act, 2008 provides for a photo card for non-drivers, but I have not been able to find out whether such a card was ever implemented. You can get a Canadian citizenship certificate from the federal government. It contains the following information: * Your name * Your date of birth * Your height and eye colour * Your gender * Your photograph * Your signature

Your passport should work for anything you would otherwise use your Driver's License as ID for.

why do you need more ID than a passport ??? and i don't know if things have changed but i lived in ontario and never drove and had government issued picture ID ... but i don't know why you require so much ID ... a passport and a birth certificate should cover it ...

Even if you don't ever intend on driving, it is still useful to have....not only as a form of ID, but in case of an emergency where you may need to drive. *Yikes....no idea. Its been fifteen years since I got my Beginners Licence. If I remember correctly, it was less than $100 (I m thinking around $60) to write the Beginners exam, then another fee of close to the same amount to take the in-car test.....The MTO website will probably have good information on it.
