Yeah, pretty much. Certainly if you use the regular post office, it will automatically cost more. Courier companies generally charge more. I can't promise you that there is not a private courier company somewhere that might charge less for a short cross-border hop than to ship something from Maine to California, but that wouldn't be the typical situation. The good news is that if you're going to ship things to another country, Canada is usually the cheapest one to ship to.
