I want to go see my boyfriend and his family in Finlay,Ohio. Last year I went to New York and entered just fine with my Birth Certificate. I wanted to know if I could still enter with my birth certificate or if I need a passport. And does he need a passport to enter Canada, or can he use his birth certificate?

If you are driving or traveling via land you will require your original birth certificate as well as government issued photo id such as drivers license, it is expected to change June 1/2009 though to having to present a passport for all modes of travel. If you are flying you will need a passport. Same rule apply for your boyfriend to enter Canada he will need original birth certificate and government issued photo id for land travel. ' For air travel he will need a passport.
