How Am I Going To Study Abroad To Canada?

Canadians, I'm a Student going to Canada to study I need some advice?

  • Im going to study at Columbia International College in Hamilton, Ontario. I've already been accepted and have paid the fees. I've heard horror stories about how much a dump Hamilton is, I've already paid the fees. Canadians, is this true????

    I was born and raised in Hamilton, although I don't live in Canada anymore (working abroad). Columbia College is in the West End very near McMaster University. The west end is the nicest part of the city and you will really enjoy it. Central and downtown hamilton is a dump but you don't need to go there. Hang out in the west end and in Dundas and if you have time make your way to Toronto (1 hour by bus, 40 min by car). Southern Ontario has a lot to offer explore it as much as possible. But as I said, just stay out of the downtown and central cores they are a bit seedy. Enjoy the Hammer! - a little nickname for Hamilton

some areas of hamilton are quite dissapointing, yes. as with any big city, there are some areas that are a dump. but a lot of hamilton is very nice, im not sure where columbia college is, but i wouldnt worry too much.

yes it is a hillbilly dump of a town--you will need to be creative in creating your life there----the upside is your are close to the US border for trips into the states. But Hamilton is a dump ---do other way to say it---i guess you are going to have to make the best of it. Good luck.

It has that reputation because it's full of factories and mills - if you're drivng through on the QEW all you see are big ugly smokestacks, and it smells. With that said, if you are not near the smokestacks, it's an okay working to middle class town/city.
