How can I enter Canada?

I'll be travelling to Canada. Can I enter the US from Canada with just a Canadian Tourist Visa?

  • I'll be tarvelling to Canada with a tourist visa (single entry) for the X'mas holidays. Will I be allowed to enter the US for a short vacation and again re-enter Canada for my exit back home to my country.

    Two things: First - your Canadian tourist visa is stamped "single entry". This means that once you leave the country, you will not be allowed to re-enter Canada on the same visa. (Although sometimes it can happen, it is not the norm!) Depending on your country of origin, you may not be able to acquire a new visa at the port-of-entry (i.e. when returning from the US). Second - if you require a tourist visa to enter Canada in the first place, the chances are high that you will also require one to enter the US. The one for entering the US must be acquired through a US consulate/embassy (the same way your Canadian one was obtained), or ... in some specific instances ... at the port-of-entry. Check with US Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) to verify if you need advance clearance (consulate/embassy issued documentation).

where are you coming from ? is your tourist visa for Canada...then it only applies in Canada it is not transferable between countries .You will need to find out first if the country your coming from requires a tourist visa to the USA

depends what country you are from a canadian visa has nothing to do with the US so check if people from your country need a visa to enter the US
