Answer:
I was there last summer for a wedding and it was a little depressing, not much going on but the people there were very nice. The weather is pretty horrid but if you are tough enough you can make a go of it. It is very small!

I've lived there since 2002: Its a nice place in the sense you have the city and wilderness right next to each other. At the south end of the city is the St Mary's River which has a lengthy trail you can walk or bike along, you can take the trail all the way out to White Fish Island. Theres several beaches in the east end, and tons of forests both north and east of town. Its an old city though: Most homes were built prior to 1930, there either 'a' frame wooden homes or bungalows, there is very few new homes in the sault. The homes are really cheap, the average cost is $80,000-90,000. If your looking to rent though, you'll be very hard pressed to find a place, the sault right now has a 1.2% vacancy rate. You'll be waiting quite a long time to find a place to live. There isnt many careers in the Sault: The main industry is the steel mill and St Mary's paper, both of which have layed off a lot of employees, if you have the credentials to get in, you'll find it to be a well paying job. The other main employment are the call centres (you'll get like 40 hours a week but the pay isnt great). The Sault's very isolated. the closest city is Sudbury which is a 3 hour drive east, and the closest western city (thunder bay) is a 10 hour drive northwest. Theres no rail service in or out of the city, but theres an international airport which flies to all major cities across North America, plus theres the Greyhound Bus. The winters are harsh: Theres a lot of snow from Nov-April, and its extremely windy. The summers are warm (rarely ever humid) though. Honestly, the Sault is a dying town, and unless your a blue-collar outdoor kinda guy I wouldn't recommend you move here (just my honest opinion)
