Is Canada as good a shopping destination as America is?

What I would like to know, is the range of products available in Canada as vast as in America???

Answer:
I live in Canada (Montreal, QC) and have shopped both here and in USA. I would have to say that the US stores have a bit more selection and much better prices. There are also outlet malls down there that discount their goods considerably, making it very worthwhile for the consumer to get great deals on name-brand clothing or other products. One example is the Wrentham Village Premium Outlet just south of Boston. Another would be the smaller Citadel Outlet in Los Angeles. I have yet to see outlet malls that large and with that many deals anywhere in Canada, and I have been to four different provinces (NB, QC, ON, AB). Ontario does have a few factory outlets, and Montreal area offers the same thing, but these tend to be a single store rather than a mall that has all the factory outlets in one spot. It is actually a bit disappointing that there is such a price difference between Canada and USA, considering that our dollar is worth almost the same now and the manufacturing costs are about the same. For example, I have a calendar on my wall here that costs $7.99 in USA, but the price in Canada is $9.99. It does not cost $2 more per calendar to get a truck to bring the calendars to Montreal from Missouri, where it was printed.

The US is *much* cheaper. I'm Canadian and don't like shopping in Canada.

If you live in Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal, yes. You can find D&G, Louis V. and all the other top designer's stores there. Now that the Canadian dollar is pretty much equal to the U.S., cost is similar. Outside of these cities, I would say that shopping is better in the U.S. There are still common stores like Guess, Gap, Old Navy, Smart Set, etc. and boutique and department stores in smaller citiies, though. If you are refering to household goods and not clothes, it is prettty much equal. We use pretty much the same goods.

The range of most products is pretty comparable. Controlled things like alcohol and tobacco are different (personally, I don't care for american beer, whiskey, or cigarettes.... i much prefer the canadian ones) but it all costs more more money in canada even with par dollars. plus gst and most provinces have pst, so your sales tax will be from 5-12% dependent on where you visit
f*ck yahoo, i'm doing google
It depends on your shopping preference as far as stores. Personally, I prefer America for shopping compared to Canada.
