How easy is it to get retail summer jobs in Canada?

  • Next year I would like to spend the end of June until the end of August in Canada. Me & a friend were hoping to go over and get jobs. How easy would it be to get a job in a shop or something similar? I don't have much experience. Also, what part of Canada would I be most likely to get work in? Thank you.

    You do know you'll need a visa to be able to come in from another country and work here, don't you? You can't just come over for a holiday and expect to be able to get a job - you won't be eligible to work in this country. Check to Citizenship and Immigration site for information on visas.

Err Canada doesn't really work like that. If your visiting from another place then getting a job won't be easy whats so ever. In reality for a person who's a canadian citizen then getting a retail job isn't hard but if you don't live here then you won't be able to get it.

UNLESS you have specific work skills and experience in a particular field of employment , that is "in demand in Canada " forget about it. If you were a medical Doctor or a trained engineer, we would welcome you. We have more than enough of our OWN young citizens who want a summer job. Obviously we take care of our own people first. just as the USA does for it's citizens. Come as a tourist and look around, if you like, but forget about working here, in Canada. JIM B> Toronto.

If you're not a Canadian citizen or working on a Visa, it shouldn't be easy. If you want retail, then you have to stay where there are retail positions (most likely any urban/suburban area). Unemployed Canadians will be (rightly) p***** off when people from other countries are working illegally.
