What is the best teacher's college in Ontario?

I want to become a high school teacher in Ontario?

  • Hi, i`m considering becoming a teacher in Ontario later on. Right now, i will be starting my first year in University(York Univeristy-Glendon Campus) as an Undergrad and my major is Political Science.I want to go to teachers College when i`m done with my Undergraduate degree. My question is, what do i need to do in order to become a high school teacher in Ontario? By the way, the campus i`ll be attending is bilingual which means i have to study in both English and French, if that helps.

    If you wish to be employed as a teacher, you need something less usual like teaching Sciences or Math in French. Political science isn't going to open many doors in high school. Right now, there are lots of unemployed teachers. In a less desirable area near Toronto it is taking up to four years - if ever - to get onto supply lists. Retired teachers, by the way, are filling supply lists as well.

it is very competitive and truthfully non traditional roles are coveted ie. female math and science teachers and male kindergarten teachers. if you have a french qualifciations you can go anywhere. Honestly, if anybody asked i wouldn't recommend anybody go to teachers college unless they were certain they could get a job ie. french or had connections. I personally have been subbing for YEARS and I am a lucky one. good luck btw
