  • Answer:

Hello, To apply for a study permit, you must first apply for admission in a university of your choice. If the university accepts you, it will send you a letter of acceptance or offer of admission. Then, you can apply for a study permit. The following documents must be provided with your application: • application form IMM 1294; • study permit application fee; • letter of acceptance; • two recent passport-size photographs (applicant’s name and date of birth should be written on the back of the photos); • proof of identity; • proof of financial support; • CAQ if you want to study in Quebec. You are required to demonstrate financial sufficiency for only the first year of studies, regardless of the duration of the course or program of studies in which you are enrolled. In other words, a single student entering a four-year degree program with an annual tuition fee of $15,000 must demonstrate funds of $15,000 to satisfy the requirements, and not the full $60,000 which would be required for four years. Fee for a study permit is CAN $125.00. As for the federal skilled worker visa, if you do not have any Arranged Employment Offer (AEO), you must submit your application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in CPC-Sydney, where the application will be assessed to determine whether it corresponds to the Ministerial Instructions. The CIO will assess whether your application should be placed into processing at a visa office. The CIO will assess whether you have one year of continuous full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid work experience in the last 10 years in one of the occupations listed in the Ministerial Instructions. Once it is found that the your work experience corresponds to the Ministerial Instructions, the CIO will record this assessment in CAIPS and the electronic file will be transferred to the visa office. The CIO will send a letter to you to: • notify you that your application is being placed into processing at a visa office; • request you to submit a copy of your application and other forms, together with supporting documents to the visa office within 120 days; • inform you of how to contact the visa office. Fee for skilled worker visa is CAN $550.00. For further information about the study permit or federal skilled worker program, please visit http://www.cic.gc.ca. Good Luck.
