Immigration in Canada - How Much Tobacco Can I Bring?

  • I don't remember exactly how much I can bring. I'm coming from the Philippines to the Canada, and I know I can bring a carton of smokes, but what about tobacco itself? I bought a bunch of Hookah tobacco. I think I remember something about being allowed to bring 200g of tobacco, but would that include molaces tobacco, and if it does is that in addition to the carton of cigarettes, or do I have to bring less packs in order to bring the tobacco?

  • Answer:

As long as the tobacco is 200 grams or less, you can bring in all of it. Here is the info from Canada Customs website: You are allowed to bring in all of the following amounts of tobacco into Canada without paying duty: 200 cigarettes; 50 cigars or cigarillos; 200 grams (7 ounces) of manufactured tobacco; and 200 tobacco sticks.

Now that the question been answered bring as much as you can because tobacco will cost you an arm and leg here. If you're going to be in Ontario you'll only be allowed to smoke it in your house or outside but not with in 9 meters of any building other than private residences.
