Question for Canadians about Canadian IPOD iTunes?
-
I asked a question about this before, but I need to verify. The Canadian itunes is really crappy and doesn't offer any of the movies ot tv shows that the US itunes offers. Yesterday I asked a question, about if I can download from the US itunes. Everyone told me yes but according to the Apple iTunes US Store terms of sale: "Purchases from the iTunes Store are available only in the United States and are not available in any other location. You agree not to use or attempt to use the service from outside of the available territory. Apple may use technologies to verify such compliance." Canadians who answred my last question told me that they download from it all the time? But how is this possible? If I can't download from US iTunes, then I'm not buying one because Canad iTunes is crap.

Answer:
JESS, it appears you are right. I've downloaded stuff from there in the past, but for some stupid reason, they have recently changed this. I just tried right now to buy the movie Cars from the US site. I was given a message that I cannot buy from that site -- and I was re-directed to the Canadian site -- where of course there are NO movies which you can buy/download. That really sucks! I'm going to guess that because they changed it so that you can only order from the Canadian site, that they will soon update that site to be similar to the American one... hopefully.

I recall just reading something about this on the help section of itunes store. The problem is that itunes only lets you download from the country in which your credit card is registered. If you have a Canadian credit card, you can only download from Canada, etc. I think if you use another credit card, you might be able to set up a US account, but I'm not 100% sure. Itunes says that the problem is that the use rights are negotiated country by country. It seems rather stupid to me because we can SEE US television (either broadcast directly via cable or via license through a Canadian affiliate), but we can't VIEW US television on the net! Just see what happens when you try to view some of the programs on the US network TV sites - it says that it's not available in Canada...even though we've obviously seen it up here. Stoopid, I say...
