Does your us citizen passport get stamped when entering Canada?

American citizen, live in Canada, How do I get a passport?

  • My brother is an American citizen who has lived in Haliburton, ON in Canada for many years. He has a Canadian driver's license and works in Canada. He had a passport back in 1985, but I'm assuming it's expired. How does he go about getting a passport? Can he get one in Canada or does he have to travel to the US to get one? If he lives in Haliburton, which is in a pretty secluded area, where is the closest place he can go to apply for a passport? Thanks!

  • Answer:

That's a US issue that Canada (and I suspect Canadians) wouldn't know anything about. He should start by calling the US Embassy in Ottawa and ask an American official what to do.

The closest US consulate, to Haliburton Ontario is in Toronto. BUT call first and get the correct information about getting a NEW US passport, BEFORE driving all the way to Toronto. Ask for a "information officer " on the phone, and explain what the brother needs to get. Jim b. Toronto.
