Do you think Canada will become more ghetto as more minorities populate Canada?
-
This is for a research project. I dont mean to sound racist. Like you know how the USA now has a ghetto minority presence like who are black and latino. As more blacks and latinos immigrate to Canada, will this drag down the country and ultimately bring it to United States levels? Will Canada become ghetto?

Answer:
hmmm... you almost nailed it but you forgot about my ethnic Han people. We love to occupy Canadian land and Canadians are so naive to let asians be the santas for our ethnic han children at malls in Vancouver during christmas time. It seems like we are taking over vancouver quite good. Keep chow down on our food. We will multiply in number with the money we raise from stirfried rats. lol you are gonna love knowing what goes in your mouth at Golden Lantern. http://biz.cn.yahoo.com/newspic/biz/1150/ lol

No, because 97% of the population is technically immigrants, like their parents, or their parents parents are from another country.. so no.

You sure sound racist for someone who claims not to be. I disagree with your thesis and doubt if it is even tenable.

Canada doesn't have ghettos, so it is highly unlikely we will in the future. Our cities work differently than US ones. We don't have the in town urban decay; in fact here, it is the rich that are moving back into the downtowns. Also, our racial experience is different. About 1/2 our "blacks" are from the Caribbean, and most of the rest are from Africa. The US style black only accounts for 10 percent of them, or something like that. And, as race is not really a barrier to things in Canada, there is not reason to be ghettoized. Canada does not have "Latinos" at all. It isn't even a box on census forms. Spanish speaking citizens are something around 2 percent, maybe? And, none live in poor neighbourhood groups anywhere in Canada. Canada is not the USA. Very similar, yes, but, not the same, and this ghetto thing is one of the big differences.

Are you kidding? No! Canada, at least the major cities, is made up of minorities. We are the majority. This country was built on the backs of immigrants, especially minorities. As such, we are the hardest working because we have to be.

Ghettos are the product of poverty.

Actually your leaving out the most ghetto race which is Aboriginal's. Have you seen the way they live (not that is a knock on them)? The houses they live in are old and run down. Take Winnipeg for example, many of them are so poor, that the houses they live in have the floors ready to fall through. Regina, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and some towns in northern ontario are extremely ghetto. On the whole though, no I dont see Canada becoming extremely ghetto like.

No, most of those areas where immigrants live are transitional ie. they move on to big and better things. BTW home ownership rates for immigrants is high than naturalized Canadians
