Is Sault Ste. Marie a dangerous city?

From Saginaw, MI, would it be more interesting to go up into Sault Ste. Marie, or go over to Niagra Falls?

  • We are planning a trip to Saginaw, MI for Christmas and we would like to go into Canada. I've never been out of the southeast so it's all new to me. Just wondering if it would be more interesting to go up into Sault Ste. Marie, or go over to Niagra Falls? I'm not the big city type, so we would like to stay out of the big cities. Thanks

    Niagara Falls is something to see in a lifetime and the Sault is very interesting too. Watch out for bad weather at that time of year, particularly going up to the Sault.

I'm sure the Soo area is nice, but people from around the world come to view the Falls. I would choose the Falls. I live in Windsor, Ontario, about 3 hours away. From Saginaw, you would cross the border at Detroit and take the 401, then Highway #2, then the QEW into Niagara. I believe around the holidays they have a light show illuminating the Falls at night as well, so pretty spectacular.
