  • my husband left me long time ago and he never returned home and now im running a business using my maiden name and my ID`s and business are on my maiden name, but my passport was on my married name.now i am planning to apply for a visit visa this coming december.i know the embassy required for a business registration forms,income tax returns,proof of funds,and etc. can i show as my property on my maiden name to the embassy and allow me to visit my daughter in canada? what do i need to show to prove that my married name on my passport and my business maiden name is only one person...i still have my birth certificate, and marriage contract from NSO..are this 2 documents are enough to be a proof? i am a philippine citizen

    If you are not divorced, and you have been using your maiden name, you need proof of name change. A birth certificate should be sufficient.

Apply for a new passport under your maiden name. As for entering Canada...contact that Canadian Embassy and speak to them about applying for a Tourist Visa. You will also probably have to show some method of assuring the Customs folks that you intend to return to the Philippines when the visit is done. If you're planning on emigrating, that is an ENTIRELY different cup of tea. In any case, you can probably simplify your life if you apply for a divorce based on abandonment. Depending on how the laws in the Philippines read, your husband may currently own 50% (or possibly more/less) of your business. If you're an extremely successful business woman, the last thing you want is some leech from your past stepping forward and claiming half of everything you've worked hard for. Good Luck!
