Is Canada good for sales job?

I am immigrating to Canada. Is there a chance for a 50 year old to get a decent job in Canada? I am in sales.?

  • I am 46 and by the time my application for immigration is approved I will be 50. I have a degree in Engineering but did not practice it. I am a store owner but I don't have money to put a business in Canada, so I have to look for a job there.

  • Answer:

It will be tough, but if you move to a high demand place, like Alberta or Sask. you have a good chance. Good luck

A good salesman should do just fine. As a group we Canadians are not too taken in by fast talking, loud and pushy people, especially in sales. The trick is to know the product you sell very well and to be able to talk about it with confidence as well as to know where the answers can be found if an odd question stymies you. You may have to prove yourself to some people in some industries before you move up to the level you think you are at but if you are good, that should not be for long. Since you have 4 years to prepare, it might help to make some contacts right now in the areas (both geographically and industry - wise) where you would hope to find employment here. Hope this helps
