What's it like to live in Venice?

Whats it like to live in canada?

  • i live in the us and am seriously considering moving to canada and starting a business there.. due to the economic uncertainty... and ive always wondered what its like to live in canada. primarily because its mainly white (european) population, with english speaking peoples.. i know that it varies from city to city but in general, whats it like to live in canada compared to the us? im specifically looking to move to toronto or calgary.. (i heard vancovuer wasnt very pleasant due to the gangs and drug problem? )

  • Answer:

CANADA IS GREAT! I live in calgary, and i am in love with it! It is so spread out! canada is just an amazing country, i have lived here my whole life. if you live in a warm part of the us, you will need to get used to the winter Temperature :P If you do move to calgary, don't move in the north west because that is where most of the gangs are. Lots of friendly people, and options. The u.s has some economic problems, but canada has less. Also, calgary is right next to the mountains, so you will have a Mountain View. Just a Beautiful country over all.

Canada is a great place to Live, it's very multicultural, we have people from all parts of the world here. I wouldn't say it has anymore whites then the US. On top of that its safe, even Vancouver, if you compare to the US. Toronto, Calgary are great places to consider because the economy is strong and you have lots of bussiness opportunities.

All cities have gang and drug problems. There is no way to avoid that, except do research and locate in lower crime areas of a city, suburbs, or rural locations. Also the cities are a multicultural mix. The Cities are a bit costly to live in.

It varies allot from place to place in Canada. It is safer than the USA.Government health care means you can get treated anywhere and it all costs the same. You pay for it with your taxes. There are no burned out or torn down neighborhoods like in Detroit or Chicago.

Your knowledge is a little dated. It would help to know where you live. Its liking describing what is it like to live in Houston ,Chicago, Palm Springs and Las Vegas I watch those T.V. shows. Some things the same others different like moving to another state. The basics check government of Canada websites on how to immigrate to Canada that's the legal part. Servicecanada.gc.ca good start. Watch some Canadian news TRY CBC CTV GLOBALTV these are the major networks. Globe and Mail(Toronto) or Calgary Herald will give you the local Newspapers. Go to Yahoo.ca and go to news get lots of different info from accross Canada. There are almost 100,000 Americans living in Calgary you are not the first to think of this. I would be glad to answer any questions you have or direct you to where you may get the answer to specific question . There is a way to activate link here on site not quite sure how its done but starts at your end. You may want to take a vacation first to look around to see if it is worthwhile for you.

"...mainly white (european) population..." Canada's called the Great White North because of our winters, not our demographics. We were the first nation to make Multiculturalism official national policy - http://multiculturalcanada.ca/Encyclopedia/A-Z/m9/1 Cultural diversity is the law of the land - http://www.pch.gc.ca/pgm/ai-ia/rir-iro/gbll/divers/index-eng.cfm And it's been the secret to our success - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinions/opinion/multiculturalism-has-been-canadas-solution-not-its-problem/article1775471/ What's reported on here has only increased in the years since then - http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=59c_1207173469 Canada's rated as being the most tolerant nation on earth - http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/04/12/canadians-are-the-most-tolerant-people-in-the-developed-world-report/ But we don't tolerate racism. You may want to (immediately) rethink your relocation plans if they're based on skin colour.

It's gets a little cold at times, but snow is quite fun - sledding, skating, snowball fights it doesn't matter how old you are. Language doesn't vary all that much from city to city, it's pretty much all english aside from Quebec. Depending on what part of the US you live in, it may not be that big of a change - places like idaho are very similar.

Its fantastic here and Vancouver is the most beautiful City in the World- just take a look at Yahoo images! Drugs and gangs -well they only fool around with each other and so 99.9% of people would never even notice anything like that going on there- you'd have to be into that stupid drug culture to find it. But what you will see is an absolutely gorgeous place to live with great restaurants, beaches, shopping, activities, views, everything you need plus great hospitals - best in the world.
