Why do so many Canadians eat at Arby's fastfood (locations everywhere)?

  • I would think Canadians would prefer Tim Hortons and A&W, and otherwise eat something healthy or from local farms. Canadians have very delicious farm fresh food, do they really need this Arby's chain all over the place? Why are there like 15 Arby's restaurants in York, Ontario for example?

  • Answer:

    There was an Arby's in Ottawa, but it closed years ago. There are apparently some in and around Toronto, but the lack of customers closed them down elsewhere as far as I know. So, not many Canadians eat at Arby's at all. Besides, many of us prefer Harvey's - a fully Canadian hamburger chain.

I've personally never eaten at Arby's once in my life nor do I know anyone that likes going there :\ I'm pretty sure the majority would prefer Tim Horton's like you mentioned.

I'm Canadian and my whole family NEVER eats at Arby's. We tried it once and it was horrible! They take perfectly good sounding lunch meat sandwiches then ruin them by soaking them in a gross special sauce that tastes like a combination of spoiled processed cheese and barf.

We eat there... because its actually an affordabe fast-food place. Oh, and the food is yummy (you gotta try their rost beef and swiss cheese burger - that's why I eat there)!

I've eaten at Arby's and I actually enjoyed the food. It kind of reminds me of a less healthy version of the Dagwood's sub-sandwich shops we have here. I do know what people mean about the addition of a sauce on top. I usually avoid the meals at Arby'sthat have this sauce. I'll go with a classic roast beef and swiss cheese, curly fries, and a soft drink or lemonade. I am not too partial to the Tim Horton's lunch meals exactly because of these sauces that they like to add to the sandwich. The last time I had one, they added something that tasted like mustard, sweet onion, and teriyaki sauce on top. I couldn't finish the sandwich because the sauce tasted terrible. But their soups are pretty good. And A&W to me is just another burger joint like Harveys, Wendy's, Burger King, or McDonalds. If I have to go for a burger, I'll take Wendy's over all others, thanks. Most of the time I end up at Subways. Healthier condiments, fresh bread, and they are pretty fast in serving you. As for what kind of Canadian would eat at Arby's, you can include middle aged IT professionals as a demographic.

I have an Arby's a few blocks from my house.....lived here over a year and yet to eat there. I can't even recall the last time I did have Arby's but I am sure it was during my high school days, which were around a decade ago.

There is only one Arby's that I know of where I live. The Canadians that eat at arby's are teenage boys. Lots of boys from my school go to Arby's for lunch a lot.

News to me. There is only 1 Arby's near where I live and I'd never travel the 20 km to go eat there. Thanks, but I don't do the fast food thing, I actually cook from scratch.
