Where to get this phone in canada?

Where do I get a temporary cell phone in Canada?

  • I’m heading to Calgary and Vancouver on vacation. Can anyone recommend a good solution for temporary cell phone service while in Canada? T-Mobile (my current carrier) charges an exorbitant 49c/min + roaming charges for calls in Canada and to the US. Looking for suggestions or solutions on the best approach.

  • Answer:

If you have a Sim-unlocked GSM phone, you can just buy a prepaid Sim card. You can get one ahead of time (here's one) http://www.cellularabroad.com/canadaSIMcard.php or buy it at phone stores when you get there. Don't get it at the airport; they're much more expensive there.

You can stop at best buy, future shop, or other stores that have prepaid cell phones for 50 bucks. Virgn doesn't need activation money and some will come with a $10 card that you could use for about 40/100 minutes, it should last you the trip.
