Some questions about Canada visa.....?
-
My sister has got an admission to one of Canada's universities for her master's degree. She has applied for her student visa from Canada embassy, now I have some questions: 1. Do they issue the student visa for 1 year and does she have to extend it each year? or would they give the student visa for all the length of her study (2 years)? 2.Although she has the interest in the field that she has been admitted to she thinks that, she may have more interests in another fields, and she is eager to apply for a degree program other than the field of her bachelor's degree which has studied in her home country here. But the uiversity that she has been accepted in doesn't have such fields of study either in undergraduate or graduate studies. Can she go there with this student visa and from there apply for another field from another university from the beginnig of her studies? If so how many semeseters does she need to pay the tuition for the field that she has been accepted to now before going to another field in another university.? 3. If she applies for Permanent Resident visa from Canada at the beginning of her studies (she already has the 67 points of the permanent residency), how long later would she get her Permanent Residence visa? 4. Can she visit u.s.a while she has student visa of Canada? or she will need a u.s.a visa too? and if she requires visit visa for visting usa, while she has the student visa of Canada, how long it takes to get visit visa for u.s.a from Canada in this case?

Answer:
You should be asking the office who issued the visa document.

Canadian student visas will be issued for whatever the length of the course is that is being undertaken, so if it is two years and she has proof of this it will be issued for two years. If she extends her stay after this she can apply for an extension from within Canada. Not sure about 3 and 4, but as for the question about the USA there is a technical requirement that anyone staying in North America including Canada and Mexico and visiting the USA have a tourist visa. But this is not always enforced, from experience I know that if you make them take the green slip out of your passport before you leave the states you should be ok without a visa.

3. you have to be a landed immigrant to apply for permanent resident right away i think. But usually they are very good with sudents and i know some ppl who stayed after their studies. search for the canadian embassy in your town, call them and ask. 4.she would need u.s. visa, visit u.s. embassy in canada, they are usually issued the same day if you show up in person. cost is around $100 and is valid for multiple entries, before it was 10 years,i'm not sure for how long they issue it now (before meaning 3 yrs ago)
