Mailing a letter to England?

Mailing a letter from Canada to U.S, what do I do/ need?

  • I'm mailing a letter to U.S. from Canada, and I'm just wondering what stamps and such I need to do this. I'm mailing this letter to an agency, (this is a fan letter) and I think I'm going to go by the address on this site < http://www.fanmail.biz/248.html > I was wondering if I could go to my local post office and ask for stamps, but I'm very VERY knew at this, so what would I say? Please, If someone could thoroughly guide me through this, I would really appreciate it =) Also, I'm 13, so am I allowed to purchase stamps and mail this letter myself? I'd really like to be independent on this, (as in me, no parental assistance) but ofcourse I would go to the post office for assistance. Thanks so much, This means alot. (hope I was clear enough :p)

Yes, you can do this by yourself. No age limit on buying stamps or mailing things. It costs $1.03 to mail an average size letter from Canada to the US. That would be probably up to 5 pages or so on 8.5 x 11 paper. You can go to a post office and they will sell you exactly that much postage. If you're buying stamps at some other place(stamps are sold at convenience stores and other places that aren't post offices), they will only have certain denominations of stamps and probably only in packages of 5 or more, so you buy the closest amount you can that's $1.03 or more. If you expect to ever mail any letters within Canada, you can buy "P"(for Perennial) stamps which are good for one letter each, cost 59 cents each and will be good for mailing an ordinary letter (or anything else if you use more than one) forever, even if the postage rates increase. Postage stamps never expire, so any you buy are always good for the amount printed on them.

All you need to do is go to a nearby Post Office, buy a stamp for a letter to the US, stick it on the envelope and mail it. A stamp to send mail from Canada to the US currently costs $1.03. The address from that web site should work fine. You can do it yourself, assuming there is a PO close enough that you can get there on foot or on your bike.

Just can put 2 first class stamps on the letter and you will be fine. Otherwise the letter rate to the USA is $1.03. But if you put on more, they do not care. If you go to the post office all you say is what you want. "I want to buy a stamp to mail a letter to the USA" The clerk will ask how many you want. You tell them, pay for it and there you go.

Tell them you're mailing a letter to Canada and need a stamp. It should cost you about 80 cents. Yes, you can purchase stamps and mail the letter yourself. You'll probably mail it at the post office.

Keeping it simple Jasey write your letter place in envelope write address to where it is going in the center of envelope write your name and address in top left corner. Take to Post Office Show to Clerk they will check the address is written correctly and tell you how much the postage will be .It should cost just over One dollar. The clerk will either give you stamps or they will put stamps on it for you and then place letter in mailbox. Postal Clerks are a friendly bunch and help people to mail letters. Age if you are old enough to go to the Post Office and ask for a stamp you are old enough to mail a letter.Good luck on your adventure to the Post Office. P.S. On your next trip send a letter to Grandma or Grandpa.
