How do I send small packages from Canada to U.S.A?

Cheapest way to send large packages to Canada from USA?

  • Answer:

If the parcel is larger than 10x10x10 inches (25x25x25 cm), or weighs more than 10 lbs (5 kilograms) ... use Greyhound. Actual cost of shipping is lower, and insurance for the contents is FAR cheaper. You may not have it delivered right to the recipient's door, but if they know it's coming, they can run down to the local station (or drop-off point) and pick it up. As an example - I send Christmas presents for my nieces and nephews that way. Average weight of package is 40 lbs ... and costs about 60 bucks to send, insured for up to $1000. And it is guaranteed to arrive within three calendar days (from Texas to New Brunswick). To compare, UPS charges $193 per box (and each box has to be no more than 20 lbs), and it takes upwards of 10 days to arrive ... and because of the location, they don't deliver direct to the recipient's door either.
