Do I need a visa for my traveling?

Do I need a U.S. visa ? I'm traveling from Canada?

  • I'm going on a round trip from Vietnam to Canada and the U.S. I'm a Vietnamese citizen and about to apply for a tourist visa to Canada. However, I'm also going to visit my cousins in the U.S. I'm planning to drive from Canada to Michigan, not going on a plane. I do know that I need a passport in order to pass through the border between Canada and the U.S for an immigration check up, but my question is do I also need to apply for a U.S visa as well ? If yes, then it means that I'm traveling from Vietnam with 2 visas ? Please help me. Advises and additional websites would be great. Thanks !

If Vietnamese people need Visas for the USA, then, yes, you will. Canada and Vietnam are totally different countries. You would have to check with the US authorities for that.

You'll need a US visa to visit the USA-it doesn't matter if you go by plane,boat ,car or bicycle-or where you come to the USA from-if you come from a country that would require a visa to fly into the USA from your home country then you will also need one to enter the USA overland from Canada.Your Canadian TRV(Temporary Resident Visa) means nothing to US Customs and Border Patrol agents. You can contact the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city here- http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/ EDIT-you will NOT need an ESTA to enter the US by land from Canada as suggested above-ESTA"s are issued/required for air travel ONLY from outside North America.Also ESTA's only apply to citizens of Visa Waiver Countries(Countries whose citizens do not require visas to visit the USA)-which does not apply to you.
