Answer:
You can buy the proper icing sugar here for that. You just need to go to the right kind of store for it. I hardly doubt you'd be able to bring it on the plane with you.

you just asked this question 6 minutes ago??? I don't know the answer but you can call customs and find out!

I wouldn't recommend it, not only would it be very heavy and could tip you over the excess baggage limit but you could get into trouble with customs (my husband took sherbert through Los Angeles once, he got a loaded gun at his head). Canada is a large country you can probably find what you're looking for when you get there.

Post it now.

I would assume you could not take this. You are not allowed to take anything greater than 3 ounces past security. You are allowed liquids on most planes, but only if you buy them after security. I work at an international airport and thats how they are. And unless its a solid, the icing would be considered a liquid. You may need to ship frosting through other means.

if you put it in the hold then it makes up part of your total weight allowance. you can also use it as your total cabin allowance as it is 5kg, this is the max for cabin allowance. best bet is to post it beforehand and use your allowance with clothes etc. for a good break

you need to ask Canada customs if this product is allowed to be brought in to the country, many things are banned

You can check it but any type of food item isn't allowed to go past security onto a plane. Been flying a lot lately.

I wouldn't try bringing it in hand luggage. For one, it's heavy. For two, they don't like anything in quantities larger than 100 ml/3.4 oz in hand luggage. For three, they don't like stuff like yogurt which could be used to conceal something dangerous, Sounds silly to me but there it is. But I'm wondering what you mean exactly by a box of fondant icing. Do you mean it comes prepared in the box, or do you mean the sugar to make the icing from? If it's prepared and sealed and labelled in a box, it should be okay in checked luggage, assuming such a product is allowed in at all. If it's just the sugar you're talking about, why not post the question in the food or cooking areas here and see what that sugar is called in Canada. You can probably get it here but it might have a different name here. The airline website should have a link to take you to a customs/air transport safety info site. If you want to play it really safe, send it by mail before you go and do it soon.

I would suggest mailing it to Canada however if you want to bring it with you it would have to be in your checked baggage. You would not be allowed to take it in your hand luggage under current regulations. Since it would go towards your total allowable weight I would check with the airline first to see whether they allow extra weight and, if so, what the charges are. If they do not allow extra weight then you would have to reduce other items such as clothing although you could purchase that here in Canada if you wish. Another option would be to see if there are any stores that handle this particular product in Canada (there is a Canadian version which is different from the European one). From what I understand this is a prepared icing so either you are preparing it in advance or have a supplier that sells prepared icing there. If you are preparing it then you should be able to find the necessary ingredients here. If from a supplier you could check with them to see if they are aware of any stores in Canada that handle their product.
