Look at it this way ... how many people come up to you on the street and offer you a job without even knowing who you are? Why would someone do so via email (when they probably shouldn't even HAVE your email address, if you don't recognize them), or by snail mail when you didn't submit an application in the first place? Chances are - if you haven't heard of the people soliciting you before, it's a scam. Act accordingly. By the way - a "support officer" for a cruise line is the person in charge of seeing there's enough food and other consumables on the vessel for the number of passengers and crew for a given trip. They're based with the shore offices ... and have absolutely NOTHING to do with hiring and firing of staff.
