Where to find more info. on the Live-in Caregiving Program in Canada, need to find an employer to hire me.?

  • I need to find out about employers in the Live in Care giving Program after which I can apply for Canadian visa.

  • Answer:

i suggest you to be carefull about live-in-care programme as Canadian govt. has become strict against it and is giving VISA mostly applying for the relatives. Do ensure about agent's history before paying him money to arange you an employer. Canadian has dumped many persons back to their countries who are on Live-in-care programme those are working illegaly in other fields.

As a single father of 4, I had a couple of live-in caregivers in the past 5 years; salary and conditions are highly regulated at least in the NWT. Monthly wages are now over $2,000. At the end of the month, my nanny was better off than me financially! Be wary of unscrupulous employers who will treat you like sh*t, not pay you, and threaten you to get deported. Surprinsingly, many bad employers are themselves wealthier Filipinos. But if you have a good employer, it sure beats working at W*lm*rt or M*cD*n*ld. First thing is to find an employer. The employer must place an add in the paper to demonstrate that he has tried to hire someone from Canada. If unsuccessful, then the employer can apply to obtain a specific person to work for him as a live-in caregiver. Once the employer's application has been accepted, he will send you a proof and you will have to apply for your visa. After 24 months of full time employment as a live-in caregiver during a 36-month period, you can apply for immigrant status. If you fail to complete 24 months, there is no mercy and you must go back to the Philippines and start from square 1. One of my nannies had to do that, despite our best efforts to keep her. But she came back, worked another 24 months, and is now a happy immigrant...in Yellowknife, there is a big Filipino community and most came here through this programme.
