Working holiday visa for Canada?

Applying for a 2nd year working holiday visa in Canada?

  • I am a British citizen currently on my working holiday visa in Canada. I know I am eligible to apply for a 2nd visa, but I am having difficulty figuring out how and where I can do this. Has anyone out there done this recently that could give me any tips? Do I have to apply for just another visa as I did the first time or is there a way to just extend the one I'm on? Also can I do it whilst in Canada or do I need to do it from the UK? Thanks in advance for any advice! Helen

I quote the FAQ website of the Canadian High Commission in London: Q: — I'm currently in Canada as an IEC working holiday participant. Can I extend my current work permit, or do I have to apply again? A: — You cannot extend your work permit for a second year. In order to take part in the IEC initiative you will need to apply again, ensuring that you meet the new criteria. If you are accepted, you will have to leave Canada and re-enter with your new Letter of Introduction in order to be issued your new work permit. Q: — I am in Canada/in another country. Can I participate to the IEC initiative without coming back to United Kingdom? A: — If your usual place of residence is United Kingdom and you are temporarily out of the country, you may apply from the country in which you are. You can download the participation kit on our website and send your completed application by mail to the address indicated in the instructions. If your application is accepted, you will receive your Letter of Introduction by email. If you are already in Canada, you will have to leave the country with this letter and present it to an Immigration Officer at a Canadian port of entry (i.e. a border crossing) in order to obtain your new work permit. ◘○◘○◘ Added: I recommend to take a side trip to the U.S. and re-enter if your 2nd WHV should be approved.
