How good is the Skiing in Meribel?

Are there any Canadians who are not good at snow skiing?

  • So I wanted to feel more Canadian but I forgot my passport..... so I drove instead to the white mountains of New Hampshire and went skiing the first time in my life and I did like totally pathetic. Every time I thought I could turn my body to face uphill to slow down my speed when the downhill was too much..............or to point toes towards each other........ nothing could stop the acceleration down the hill.... because I first time skiing had very little control over my turns.... In Canada, are there people who would be rookie at this or do all Canadians have snow skiing down to pro level? Like in BC you have Whistler, in Alberta you have Banff, In Sask and Manitoba you have probably cross-country skiing, the Yukon Kuane National Park and NWT you have mountains North of Eagle Plains Dempster Highway..... Nunavut also has mountains..... The Maritimes has cliffs you could ski on in winter, '' Quebec has mountains, pretty ones I hear Ontario has ski resorts near Thunder Bay probably? So are there Canadians who would be as bad as me at snow skiing?

  • Answer:

Im from the yukon where we have more winter than anything (firstly we dont ski at kluane national park, its mount sima) and I am absolutely pathetic at skiing. I can do anything else snow related in the outdoors except ski, it just isn't my thing. Your not alone, a lot of Yukoners can't ski.

Ontario has ski resorts a heck of a lot further south than Thunder Bay! I have tried skiing a few times and finally gave up when I tore a knee ligament. I am Canadian...and I can not ski!

Canadians are no better or worse than any other nationality at skiing. I tried skiing and failed miserably. Learning to snowboarding was far easier

I grew up within sight of a ski hill (Mt. Baldy near Rock Creek B.C., but most visible from Oliver), and never skied. I still haven't. I first tried Cross Country up in the Arctic one summer, and did it in and around Ottawa, but, never downhill. I've slid downhill on snowshoes; closest I've ever come. Many Canadians can't ski. It tends to be a sport of the rich, by and large.

I'm from Ontario, and I can ski well. But that's probably because my town's local ski hill is basically in my back yard, so in the winter i go there often. There are several ski resorts south of thunderbay if you're interested. you don't have to drive as far as NH

Sure. Me. I've only skied downhill once in my life, and cross country only a few times. Downhill was fun but too expensive for me to do very often at all. I have no really good excuse for not doing cross country.

Canadians are not all good. But every Quebecers is badass at skiing, or at snowboarding. Roughly everyone start to learn at 7 years old or so. I can do amazing snowboard stunt because i'm from Quebec.

I love cross country skiing......but couldn't get the hang of downhill. I'll stick to snowboarding. Who is the idiot giving people thumbs down because they aren't good at skiing??? You must lead a sad life, whoever you are.
